How to play Craps: Game Instruction & InformationCraps is one of the most exciting and popular casino games, and while the layout of the craps table may seem confusing at first, Craps is a game that is both accessible and fun. With Craps, excitement is the name of the game. Craps is the most fast-paced game at the casino, with bettor’s having to make an average of 100 decisions per hour. It is also a game of swiftly changing fortunes, which only adds to the frenetic atmosphere of a craps table. Depending on the types of bets you places, betting odds range from break-even or less (the best odds you will find at a casino by far), to upwards of 16%!
Craps Gameplay
Playing Craps is a lot easier than betting at craps, and betting at craps is a lot easier than it looks. A game of craps begins when a designated Shooter selects a pair of dice. The shooter tosses the craps dice. This first toss is called the “Come Out.” On the Come-Out roll, if the shooter rolls a 2,3, or a 12, s/she loses and the roll is finished. If s/he rolls any kind of 7 or 11, that is a Natural Winner. If any other number is rolled, that number becomes the “Point.” The Point needs to be rolled again before the shooter rolls a seven. Keep this very simple fact in mind: Rolling a seven on your come-out roll is a win, but any other time, it is a loss. If the shooter rolls a seven before s/he roll the point, they lose, and the dice get passed. Dice are passed clockwise. As long as the shooter is winning, they won’t be compelled to pass the dice (in fact, a winning shooter is considered lucky!). Still, they can leave at any time if they so choose.
When the dice get to you, keep these few points in mind:
1) You don’t have to shoot if you don’t want to. Just pass on it and the dice will be passed to the person next in line, going clockwise.
2) When you come up to shoot, you will be given a few dice to choose from. Grab any two you like, but remember to hold them in only one hand. Otherwise, the house will suspect that you have switched out the dice, and you will have to choose again.
3) In order for a toss to be valid, both dice have to hit the backboard. Remember to throw them hard enough! Also, the dice should be bouncing, not sliding, in order for the house not to suspect foul play.
